Three men were killed and at least 15 other people were wounded in shootings across the city since Friday, according to police.
In the most recent fatal incident, officers found a man shot multiple times early Saturday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
The man, in his 20s, was found inside a vehicle near Kenton and West End, police said. He was dead at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death but could not provide more information Saturday morning.
The other two fatal shootings happened within minutes of each other Friday night on the South Side, police said.
About 6:20 p.m., Anfernee Durant was shot in the foot, leg and side in a possible drive-by attack in the 7800 block of South Vincennes, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Durant, of the 7800 block of South Loomis, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, the medical examiner’s office said. Police said Durant was a documented gang member.
At 6:15 p.m., a man was shot in the head in the 6800 block of South Western. He was taken to Christ Hospital, where he later died, police said. His age and the circumstances of the shooting weren’t immediately available.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office had not confirmed the fatality as of Saturday morning.
A man was shot on the Near North Side Saturday morning in the most recent nonfatal incident.
About 6:05 a.m., the 34-year-old man was shot in the abdomen in the 0-100 block of East Chicago, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
About 5:30 a.m., a man was shot during a robbery in West Garfield Park.
The 27-year-old was in the 100 block of South Kostner when an unknown male shot him in the buttocks during a robbery, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
A man was shot in the back of the head about 2:30 a.m. on the West Side.
The 23-year-old was inside a vehicle in the 4000 block of West Cortland at 2:30 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital. Police and fire spokesmen did not know his condition.
Thirty minutes earlier, a man was shot on the Near West Side.
The man, 21, was shot in the torso about 2 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Lake, police said. More information was not available.
Hours earlier, four people were wounded in about a five-minute time frame of separate South Side shootings late Friday.
At 10:20 p.m., two women, thought to be in their 20s, were shot in the 4500 block of South Marshfield. One was struck in the hip and taken to Stroger Hospital, and the other suffered graze wounds to the buttocks and thumb, police said. It wasn’t immediately known if the second woman was hospitalized, and their conditions weren’t available.
About the same time, a male whose age wasn’t immediately known was shot in the leg in the 2900 block of South Dearborn. His condition was stabilized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
Five minutes earlier, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.
The teen was outside about 10:15 p.m. in 7800 block of South Carpenter when three people walked up and one of them shot him in the foot, police said. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
At least seven others were hurt in shootings since Friday.
