Bobby Shmurda has been cleared of one of the charges that he was arrested for at the end of last year.
The rapper was indicted on a number of charges in December, but REVOLT reported, via Music Times, that the case which accused him of firing a gun at a number of people outside a barbershop has now been dismissed.
Bobby Shmurda, whose birth name is Ackquille Pollard, is still in prison, as he faces prosecution for a number of other offenses. This includes reckless endangerment in the second degree, three counts of conspiracy in the third degree, one count of drug possession with the intent to sell, and numerous others.
Howard Greenberg, who is Pollard’s lawyer, explained to the press, “Brooklyn D.A. office announced that the gun case in Brooklyn will be dismissed in about two weeks.”
Bobby Shmurda was arrested outside of Quad Studios near Times Square in midtown Manhattan on December 17. On December 19, he was then processed and admitted at Rikers Island’s West Facility in New York.
He spent Christmas in prison, after rumors that his record label were going to pay for his bail proved to be false. Bobby Shmurda is now scheduled to appear in court on January 29.
Greenberg appeared to be rather enthused, as he passionately explained, “Brooklyn is done and now it’s on to Manhattan, where we need to teach these adversaries a lesson.”
Another rumor to have emerged regarding Bobby Shmurda’s recent incarceration is that the rapper refused bail money from his uncles. Instead, Shmurda decided to stay in prison because he didn’t want to use money he believes has been stolen from him.
Bossip, via All Hip Hop, reported that brothers Debo and Calvin Wilson, who co-own Hard Tymes Records, tried to bail out their nephew. They told Bossip they had done that the previous time Shmurda found himself in jail.
However, Shmurda still has an issue with the pair, which resulted in him turning down their offer. Shmurda previously took to Instagram to accuse both Debo and Calvin Wilson of stealing $20,000 from him.
The Wilson brothers have insisted that they’ve proved they didn’t take the money from the rapper. However, Shmurda still hasn’t spoken to them since. Bossip reported that they saw Shmurda refuse to see Calvin Wilson when he visited Riker’s Island last week.
Meanwhile, Wilson explained, “We always had [Shmurda’s] back,” and that they’re angered about the “disrespectful” way Shmurda accused them on Instagram.
