Our God Is An Awesome God
10 Wilderness Mentalities.
Good afternoon and welcome to the first Sunday of the month. Just to share a bit of God news, yours truly was baptized last Saturday as I re-commit and focus myself on the work of God. It is truly a blessing. After being dragged through the dregs of this world, the chance to be cleaned and whole is awesome and I am ever grateful for that. I just want to say thank you Lord.
As we continue in the wilderness mentality message series, the next two mentalities are:
Don’t make me wait for anything; I deserve everything immediately and
My behavior may be wrong but it’s not my fault.
5. Don’t make me wait for anything; I deserve everything immediately.
“So be patient, brethren, as you wait til the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits expectantly for the precious harvest from the land. See how He keeps up his patient vigil over it until it receives the early and late rains.” James 5:7
Impatience is considered the fruit of pride. Pride puts you in the mindset where everything should go your way. Being proud keeps you from being able to wait for anything with the right attitude. In the scope of patience, it is not the ability to wait but rather the ability to maintain a good attitude while waiting. Being raised in the digital age where instant gratification is the norm it becomes increasingly difficult to keep a good attitude while waiting on something that you want but if you put those thoughts out of your mind, if you rebuke the negative thoughts and work on God’s time faithfully, He will take care of you and fulfill His promise to you.
6. My behavior may be wrong, but it’s not my fault.
“And the man said, the woman whom you gave to be with me- she gave me from the tree and I ate. And the woman said, the serpent beguiled me and I ate.” Genesis 3:12-13.
An unwillingness to take responsibility for ones own actions blaming everything that is wrong or goes wrong on someone else is a major cause of wilderness living. As you see in the scripture, Adam disobeyed God’s order and blamed Eve for his transgression. It’s common knowledge that many folks do blame Eve’s transgression for what happened but in the end, Adam did have the final decision to choose to eat the apple or not. Take responsibility. It is time to stop blaming others, blaming circumstances, etc… Take responsibility for your decisions and actions. Take the blame and repent for your sins. Stop circling around the same mountain over and over. Quit settling for living in the wilderness. The definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. You keep stumbling along the same path. The same things trip you up. Take a different path. Choose to change up how you deal with hurdles. Choose to change your thinking and grow into Christian maturity,.
